Utah Adventure Retreat Recap
We spent the past week exploring the incredible landscapes of Utah, from the sandy desert, to deep canyons, to towering red rocks. The Colorado River has meandered and carved through these crimson cliffs for hundreds of millions of years, creating a red-rock wonderland. The colors were astounding, especially the contrasting deep reds of the rocks and baby blue of the big sky above. The sunsets and sunrises were my highlight. During this trip, we stayed at Red Cliffs Lodge which sat right on the banks of the Colorado River with the most striking sunsets. Our private chefs (Amanda and Jenna) served us healthy, fresh, and delicious dinners with local produce. Each night they made a different dessert in their dutch oven.
Moab is world famous for its mountain biking and it did not disappoint! This trip, we biked new trails in Moab called Brand M with Rim Tours, as well as the Navajo trails. Moab has something for everyone there, whether you’re a beginner or advanced biker. On our first day of the Utah adventure retreat, we ventured to Fisher Towers to hike among the sandstone towers — they look like massive drip castles. The next day, we got up early to hike through the astounding Arches National Park. Did you know there are 2,000+ natural arches in the national park? We didn’t see all 2,000, but we did see A LOT ! including the famous Delicate Arch before hiking to Devils Garden.
The next day was a calm day as we paddled down the Colorado with Moab Adventure Center. We lazily floated alongside the red cliffs of the Colorado river gorge, catching peaks of big horned sheep and learning the history of the area. We also hiked a very special, top secret hike that required us to cross some rivers before finally arriving at an amazing waterfall. This hike location is a secret, so you’ll have to join us for the next Utah retreat ;). On our last day, we hiked the Grandstaff trail through a small desert canyon which featured a flowing stream and the Morning Glory Natural Bridge.
Though we live in uncertain and scary times, nature’s playground always makes us feel alive and happy! We feel so grateful to be able to (safely) host these retreats with wonderful women in beautiful places!
