Colleen asked me to comment on the astrology for the upcoming weekend, February 11 – 14, so of course I looked at Venus, the planet of Love! Venus started the month joining Aquarius, the freedom loving sign whose detached attitude will influence us all through the end of February. Aquarius is the ultimate humanitarian so our view of love will be broader than the romantic love that we generally associate with Valentine’s Day. With Venus in Aquarius, we are encouraged to look at love in our own unique way and to define love for ourselves.
Even more than romantic love, friendship will be a big part of love this month. We are looking for a community of like-minded people to create a more harmonious life. It is important to remain open minded about love and to realize everyone has a right to define love in our own unique ways. Aquarius reminds us to be individuals and respect others’ choices.
Kinds of Love
There are so many kinds of love. The Greeks have six words for love: eros for sexual passion, philia for deep friendship, ludus is playful love, agape is love for everyone, pragma is longstanding, lasting love, and philautia is love of self. Aquarius encourages philia, ludus, agape. I add philautia because love of self is essential for all of us all the time!
