Are you like me? At the end of the year do you find yourself running after your life like a runaway car? Trying to keep up and redirect from the rear end? Making sure all of the loose ends are tied up before the holidays and the New Year? Park it, Ladies. There’s a better way.
A fresh start, a new beginning, ahhhhh doesn’t that sound so nice? Time to re-center, re-focus and step calmly into the driver’s seat. How can our journey be less stressful, more enjoyable and more fulfilling this year? I have an idea.
Put your soul in control. Definition of your soul? Here’s my favorite:
Soul: “…the interior location where the real you lives. The real you involves your drives, your beliefs, your desires, even your reactions to the physical world. This is where your stories happen, if you’re a writer. It’s where your visions appear, if you’re a painter. It’s where your curiosity and tenacity live, if you are a scientist or inventor. The work that evolves from you begins in that very honest, private place that I call the soul. Vinita Hampton Wright
Again, put your soul in control.
I have another idea. Your soul is precious cargo. Let’s be proactive in keeping our vessels in great condition. We don’t want “car trouble” keeping us from the destinations we desire. Let’s get ourselves tuned-up and tuned-in to a well thought out maintenance plan.
Can we, in any way, tweak our sleep habits, hydration, nutrition and fitness to make us stronger? What can we do to improve our blood chemistry and bone density? How about adding in some core and stability muscles? For instance, what if you were to add these things to your day:
Make it a rule that you may not pass a water fountain or kitchen sink without taking a drink. Give yourself a bedtime. Start each day with a glass of calcium OJ. Arrange to meet a friend at least 2-times a week to exercise. Wear MBT Anti-shoes to activate stability muscles and decrease joint stress. A few small steps for your health can truly add up to one giant step, in the right direction, for your life.
When your soul is in control and your body is healthy, there’s a good chance your mind will be at peace. You can’t control others so I find these two tips to be helpful. Remove yourself from the toxic people in your life and give the others the benefit of the doubt when conflict arises. It’s amazing how the actions of others can occupy our minds and keep us from moving forward. There’s good merit to a quote by Zig Zigler, “You are what you think about”. Forgiveness and compassion can be a life-giving replacement for anger and resentment. Free up your mind to learn, plan, solve and create.
When our mind, body and soul are cared for and respected as an awesome, interdependent, life- living machine, we will be more empowered to experience the world, in the driver’s seat, with vigor ,stamina and joy.
